Every living thing is inherently mandated to be fruitful. This isn't just a biological imperative for individuals; it extends to organisations and every organic system. But what exactly is fruitfulness? It's the very concept of the living and a direct measure of the quality of the life we live.
While the term "fruitfulness" might sometimes carry religious or spiritual connotations, its fundamental meaning is universal and essential to understanding life itself. We often perceive life as a process of consumption, yet true life is about what we release and give off. It's about generating value. In business, we readily understand that the "life" we invest is meant to create value. The critical question then becomes: Is the life we release consumable and impactful?
Let us look at the interconnectedness of Performance, Productivity, and Personal Fruitfulness. In organisations, we frequently use the terms performance and productivity. These two concepts are central to defining how fruitful both individuals and organizations truly are. Achieving fruitfulness requires a harmonious balance: good performance with the right productivity is just as crucial as avoiding scenarios where one thrives while the other falters.
Fruitfulness demands a clear measure of both input and output. Without these metrics, we can't truly ascertain whether objectives or goals have been fulfilled. And doesn't this same principle apply directly to our own lives? If we haven't grasped the profound concept of fruitfulness in its broadest sense, how can we truly comprehend and embrace the interconnected ideas of circularity and sustainability?
